Pedagogical Principals

Beginner

The beginning student will focus their attention on an understanding of music theoretical principals, e.g., reading and hearing music. Additionally, the student will learn how to control their body through correct application of muscle behavior.  This prepares the student for advance to higher levels of performance. And teaches the student a discipline of motivated self-practice.

Intermediate

Based on successful and continued application of beginning performance  pedagogy, the intermediate student will focus their attention on technique through the practice of scales, etudes and music of greater difficulty. At this level, the study of performance practice (music history) in included thus providing a greater understanding of music as a whole.

Advanced

Based on successful and continued application of intermediate performance pedagogy, the advanced student will focus their attention on a deeper understanding of musical aesthetics (philosophy of music).  Endemic to this advanced level of performance, the student will build his/her professional-performing repertoire.
